Sustainability Day

In 2014, Take Pride Winnipeg! Inc., Assiniboine Park Conservancy, Manitoba Education for Sustainable Development Working Group (MESDWG) partnered for the first Sustainability Day at the Zoo, October 2, 2014. There were 16 daytime exhibitors sharing ideas about sustainability throughout the day with the public.

The daytime event was followed by an evening fundraising dinner held at the Tundra Grill, with over 100 guests. The dinner included pre-dinner entertainment and a silent auction.

The three groups decided to partner once again in 2015, bringing Sustainability Day to the spring, holding the event May 26, 2015. The beautiful day brought over 1,000 visitors to the Zoo, visiting 22 exhibitors, discussing sustainability issues such as waste management, recycling, fair trade and taking care of our natural environment.

This time, the daytime event was followed by a cocktail reception and a mayoral panel on sustainability, with Mayor Bowman of Winnipeg, Mayor Chrest of Brandon and Mayor Goertzen of Steinbach participating.

Thank you to Green Manitoba and Emterra Group for their sponsorship in 2015!

Stay tuned for more sustainability events coming up!
