COMMIT TO CLEAN CANADA TOGETHER
Canadians, it is time to join the countries from around the planet for World Cleanup Day and #CleanCanadaTogether.
In 2017, Canada celebrated the 150th anniversary of Confederation.To recognize this milestone year, ten communities and regions proudly participated in a simple initiative dubbed #CleanCanadaTogether. Close to 285,000 people across Canada volunteered their time in the spring to pick up litter within their communities.
With the success of #CleanCanadaTogether in 2017, we continue to invite even more communities to get involved! So far in 2018, twenty-three communities have signed up to spark a Canada-wide conversation on litter control, with over 302,000 people picking up over 621 tonnes of litter! In creating a nation-wide litter campaign, communities, big and small, can share ideas and encourage each other to engage their residents in activities that helps address a consistent issue that faces all municipalities, ultimately building litter awareness as part of our national consciousness.
#CleanCanadaTogether continues into the autumn this year, supporting World Cleanup Day on September 15. Communities across Canada will be participating in litter cleanups on or near World Cleanup Day, as part of a global effort to reduce litter and take care of our planet.
