Deadline extended to July 16!
After sixteen years, it was time for a change. Flower Power 2014, Take Pride Winnipeg!'s 17th annual Winnipeg in Bloom Contest, will feature a Garden of the Week for nine weeks this summer in the Winnipeg Free Press.
"There are so many beautiful gardens in Winnipeg, and we wanted to find a new way to celebrate them,” says Tom Ethans, executive director. "We want to show off their efforts and the fabulous curb appeal they add to city streets. Maybe we will even inspire more people to try gardening when they see how amazing their yards can look!”
To be considered for the Garden of the Week, email a photo of your front yard garden to carrie@takepride.mb.ca along with your name, street address and phone number. Judges will view the garden in person and have it professionally photographed if selected as a Garden of the Week. Each Garden of the Week will have their garden featured in the Winnipeg Free Press on Fridays, beginning Friday, July 18, 2014. The winning submissions will also receive prizes from program sponsors.
Any front yard gardens within the City of Winnipeg municipal boundaries are eligible to enter. This includes BIZ zones, businesses, churches, residential properties, community groups, apartments or condominiums. The entry deadline is July 11, 2014.
