Programs
Take Pride Winnipeg! currently offers eight programs throughout the year for students, schools, community groups, businesses and individuals across the city.
Cleanliness: The Team Up to Clean Up campaign, which has a both a spring and a fall component, is Take Pride Winnipeg's largest program, with over 60,000 people volunteering annually to help pick up litter from city streets, playgrounds and parks. Graffiti Removal is conducted during the summer with the aid of youth hired through the Urban Green Team program. Green Wave is a program hiring youth to assist in business improvement zones, along image routes and in parks to improve the overall cleanliness and beauty of Winnipeg streets.
Beautification: Murals painted by local artists are commissioned on sides of businesses, schools, churches and fences. Winnipeg in Bloom is a front yard garden contest open to all residents to encourage curb appeal of their properties. Brush Up Winnipeg is a program to beautify the community by painting the exterior of homes throughout Winnipeg.
Education: The Pride Club Mentor Program is a hands-on teaching experience for high school and university students to teach Grades Four to Six students about pride, the environment, litter and graffiti. P.A.W.S. is a club for middle school students to learn about volunteering - from raking leaves and shovelling snow to collecting food for hampers or singing at a seniors' centre.
Take Pride Winnipeg! staff are available for speaking engagements to schools, community groups, clubs and businesses that are interested in learning more about our programs, ways to make a difference, and ways to make Winnipeg the best city in Canada. For more information on speaking engagements, please contact Tom Ethans, Executive Director.
